Recruits React: Prospects Upbeat Following Successful Death Valley Visits

Brian Kelly's staff hosted an incredible number of recruits to campus, prospects raving about their time.

It was a weekend for the ages in Baton Rouge. LSU hosted over 200 prospects to campus over a three-day stretch with Friday and Saturday reeling in a majority of them. After the visits, social media has been filled with reactions from their time in Death Valley.

Brian Kelly’s program hosted four 2024 LSU commits, No. 1 players at several positions and even got a Notre Dame commit on campus in 4-star quarterback CJ Carr.

Over the weekend, Battle held a 7v7 tournament in New Orleans where a number of the top players in the country made their way to Louisiana. When in the state, it gave recruits the chance to drop into Baton Rouge right down the road to check out campus.

Here’s a look at what social media is saying and a few reactions from prospects:

The LSU Commits

Colin Hurley - Quarterback - 2024

The gem of the class to this point, and for the foreseeable future, will be Hurley. A two-time state champion, Hurley started for Trinity Christian as an eighth grader and led the team to a state championship. In 2021, he did it again as a freshman, this time earning accolades including FL High School Class 2A Overall Player of the Year.

Hurley was in Louisiana for a week long trip ahead of the 7v7 tournament in New Orleans. The future LSU signal-caller dropped in for a spring practice, met with a few prospects on Friday and then drove 60 miles down the road to New Orleans to tear it up in Tad Gormley Stadium.

Zion Ferguson - Defensive Back - 2024

The 6-foot, 165-pounder has all the tools to compete in the SEC with the developmental skills this coaching staff attains. Kelly has been working to develop relationships early in the 2024 cycle, clearly making an impression on Ferguson over a short period of time.

Ferguson has proven to be a threat in the secondary with his elite ball-hawking skills, but also attains soft hands to make highlight reel interceptions routinely. Ferugon also competed in the 7v7 tournament after making his way to Baton Rouge.

Jojo Stone - Wide Receiver - 2024

Standing at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, Stone is about as versatile of an athlete this coaching staff could ask for. Reeling in 37 offers according to Rivals, Stone has been a hot name on the market with LSU coming in and taking the Georgia native.

Stone has been in Baton Rouge quite a few times unofficially, developing a relationship with the new staff and getting familiar with this new era of LSU football. Being recruited as an athlete gives the Tigers hope that he can be a do-it-all player on this deep roster they’re developing, but shapes up to be a gifted wideout long term.

David Stone - Defensive Line - 2024

The freak of this visitors list, Stone has the “it” factor. A player who blew up during his junior campaign, the sky’s the limit for one of the most gifted athletes in the 2024 class.

For defensive line coach Jamar Cain to get face time with the 5-star prospect, it sets the tone for the recruitment moving forward. We know just how gifted of a recruiter Cain can be, so this will be one to monitor for the long haul as he continues taking visits.

Keylan Moses - Athlete - 2024

Moses continues to make his way to Baton Rouge for visits. A player who has voiced his overall thoughts on LSU and the opportunity to play in Death Valley, he's a monster target for the Tigers in their 2024 recruiting cycle.

The New Offers React

Jamie Ffrench - Wide Reciever - 2025

Ffrench has elevated his status to a Top 5 wideout in the 2025 class and it’s for good reason. A rising junior, the youngster has blossomed into one of the more physically gifted receivers in the nation.

An offer from the Tigers is just one of the latest schools to give him an opportunity at the next level. Ffrench has propelled himself as one of the Top 30 overall players in the country with the chance to be a five-star when it’s all said and done if he continues on this trajectory.

Isaiah Mozee - Wide Receiver - 2025

Wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton put in work over the weekend. Offering a couple of wideouts as this position group reloads for the future, he went ahead and dished one out to Mozee.

The Missouri native may not have a ranking just yet, but it hasn’t slowed down Power Five programs from offering him. A list including LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia and more, look for Mozee to be nationally ranked sooner rather than later.

Kamare Williams - Wide Receiver - 2025

Another offer. Another wide receiver in the 2025 class. Coach Hankton sees immediate potential in the rising junior who already stands at 6-foot-4, 175 pounds. After receiving an offer from the Tigers, it’s clear this program is eyeing wideouts in the 2025 class with a majority of scholarships given out this weekend being from that position group.

For Williams, the youngster has the chance to be special given his already impactful size at the high school ranks. LSU, along with Penn State, Florida State, Miami and more, have already offered the rising junior with tremendous upside.

The 2024 Sleeper to Monitor:

Aeryn Hampton - Wide Receiver - 4-star

Hampton has been raving about the Tigers via social media ever since his visit to Baton Rouge. The 4-star wide receiver continues to rise up the rankings ahead of his senior year.

As his recruitment heats up, expect the Tigers to consistently be in his ear.
