Report: LSU Special Teams Coordinator Brian Polian Taking Off-Field Role

Polian's special teams unit struggled in 2022, will stay on Brian Kelly's staff in a new role.

LSU special teams coordinator Brian Polian has accepted a new role on Brian Kelly’s staff, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Polian is “transitioning to an off-field role at LSU where he’ll help manage the roster, NIL and the transfer portal in a GM-type role. With that move, LSU is searching for a new special teams coach.”

After a challenging 2022 season with special teams woes plaguing the Tigers routinely, it was expected there would be some movement, but keeping Polian on staff is a major victory given his expertise in the recruiting game.

Polian played a major role in the Tigers’ success in their Top 5 2023 recruiting class and will continue to help this program off the field.

The Tigers are now in search of a new special teams coordinator for the 2023 season.
