LSU coach Ed Orgeron hopped on the SEC teleconference Wednesday morning to talk about the Tigers No. 1 ranking in the AP Poll but was also asked about Alabama starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Orgeron said the team is preparing for Tagovailoa to play come Nov. 9 in the No. 1 vs No. 2 matchup that will cover much of the headlines over the next two weeks.

"No doubt we're preparing for him to play," Orgeron said. "I think that he will play knowing the competitor that he is I do believe he'll play in that game."

Tagovailoa exited the Crimson Tide's win over Tennessee with an ankle injury that required a minor procedure.

Alabama coach Nick Saban confirmed Wednesday that Tagovailoa would be returning to practice this week but that the junior quarterback would be "a game time decision."

Orgeron was also asked what the biggest difference he's noticed in Tagovailoa's game as this season has progressed.

"Watching the college game, I don't know how you can get much better," Orgeron said. "Young man's release is incredible, they seem to call the right plays at the right time and he's surrounded by great athletes. He's a highly competitive young man and I think he's an excellent quarterback."

LSU will hold its only padded practice of the week Wednesday before taking it on the easier side to close out the week with the annual "Tiger Bowl."

The "Tiger Bowl" is a scrimmage where the underclassmen are coached by the veteran players on the team in a loose setting as a way to blow off steam.
