The LSU football staff continues working overtime on the recruiting trail as they put an emphasis on the 2025 cycle, but it hasn't stopped them from pursuing their final 2024 target.

Five-star ATH Terry Bussey has arrived in Baton Rouge for his unofficial visit to LSU. The No. 1 athlete in the 2024 cycle caught up with the coaching staff for breakfast this morning before he begins his visit, sources tell LSU Country.

Along with Bussey, LSU is hosting the No. 1 safety in the 2025 cycle, DJ Pickett. The top defensive back arrived in Baton Rouge on Tuesday night before he began his visit on Wednesday.

The latest buzz on the recruiting trail:

Terry Bussey Arrives in The Boot

Bussey, the No. 1 athlete in America, will take a visit to Death Valley on Wednesday for his final trip down South before he finalizes his college plans.

The five-star prospect has taken a visit to Athens for a visit with the Georgia Bulldogs and will now make a trip to Baton Rouge one last time.

Following his Wednesday visit, Bussey will then head to College Station for a trip back to Texas A&M, where he has been committed to since September.

Despite remaining pledged to the Aggies, Bussey has kept his options open as the Tigers surge in his recruitment.

Now, LSU will get one final crack at the elite-level athlete before he puts pen to paper next week on National Signing Day.

Bussey has been on LSU's campus twice over the last few months with Wednesday marking his third trip to Baton Rouge since September.

Brian Kelly and Co. now have the chance to roll out the red carpet for their final visit with the top player remaining on their 2024 Big Board.

Speaking with those familiar with the situation, LSU's "sell" to Bussey is his ability to be a Swiss Army Knife for this program and make his presence felt in all three phases of the game.

A player that can impact the game in a myriad of ways, his bread and butter will be as a safety/defensive back at the next level, but reps at wide receiver or as a return specialist aren't out of the equation either.

For the Tigers, to secure a player of Bussey's caliber would be the cherry on top to a dynamic 2024 cycle.

LSU has already signed three five-star prospects in Trey'Dez Green, Dominick McKinley and Weston Davis. Per On3's Recruiting Rankings, the Tigers have the No. 3 class in the 2024 cycle.

Now, all attention shifts to Bussey, where it will be an uphill climb to flip him from Texas A&M, but Kelly's staff will certainly continue working overtime until the coveted prospect puts pen to paper next week.

Bussey arrived in Baton Rouge on Tuesday night before he began his visit on Wednesday to take in the scenes of Death Valley.

Kelly, Corey Raymond and the LSU recruiting staff, led by Sherman Wilson, will put their foot on the gas during the midweek visit.

The Latest on DJ Pickett

The Bayou Bengals are hosting five-star DJ Pickett for an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge. The No. 1 safety in the 2025 cycle has made his way to "The Boot" to check out the scenes of Death Valley.

Pickett, who's cruised up the recruiting rankings over the last few months, released a final five schools in December consisting of Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Florida and Michigan.

Now, he's also keeping LSU and Oregon in the mix with the Tigers receiving an unofficial visit. Pickett arrived on Tuesday night and will begin his visit on Wednesday alongside Bussey.

Following the visit, the expectation is that Pickett will make his way up to Eugene to visit with Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

For the Tigers, it's clear the impact Corey Raymond has already had on this program. LSU reeled in a commitment from the No. 3 cornerback in America, Jaboree Antoine, on Saturday as this program retools its secondary.

Despite only being on staff for less than a month, Raymond is handling business on "The Trail."

During his previous coaching stint at LSU from 2012-2021, Raymond coached seven players who earned first-team All-America honors along with four first round NFL Draft picks. He had another five players selected in the second round of the NFL Draft and also coached the 2019 Jim Thorpe Award winner Grant Delpit.

Raymond is a former standout defensive back for the Tigers and later went on play six seasons in the NFL.

“Corey’s passion for LSU and the desire for our program to have the best defensive back unit in the country really stood out,” Kelly said following the hire. “Corey’s tremendous knowledge and experience, along with his recruiting success, make him a great addition to a strong defensive staff."

Now, he has an opportunity to wine and dine the No. 1 safety in America with Pickett making his way to Baton Rouge for a big-time unofficial visit.

LSU Country will have the latest on Bussey and Pickett's visits following their departures from Baton Rouge.
