The Buzz: The Latest on the Recruiting Trail for LSU, Targets Emerging

Brian Kelly and the Tigers are fresh off of a big recruiting weekend, surging on "The Trail".

LSU's 2024 recruiting class has seen some shuffling over the last 48 hours with the latest news coming in four-star wide receiver Joseph Stone reopening his recruitment.

The Tigers are putting the final touches on their current cycle with a handful of targets on their radar and a flip target emerging.

The latest on the "Wide Receiver Big Board", a target potentially flipping to another SEC program and more on the recruiting trail:

The Decommitment: Joseph Stone

Stone became one of the first players to pledge to the Tigers in the summer of 2022 and remained committed to the purple and gold despite several potential suitors entering the mix.

Over the summer, Louisville got Stone down to campus where buzz began surrounding a potential flip.

Now, a handful of programs will be in his ear as he reopens his process.

Stone said in a statement:

"I would like to thank the entire staff for taking the time to get to know me as a player and as a person. Being committed to LSU has been nothing but the greatest.

I am fortunate to be a part of something that will always be unique. Thank you to the LSU fan base for your unwavering support.

It has been incredibly difficult to decide, but I am confident that God is perfect and makes no mistakes. With that being said I will be decommitting from LSU and reopening my recruitment!"

The New WR Target: Dre'lon Miller

The Texas A&M pledge has been committed to the Aggies since June, but it hasn't stopped the Tigers from turning up the heat for the four-star wideout's services.

Miller made his way to Baton Rouge once again last weekend for a game day experience against Auburn. Those familiar with the situation believe LSU hit it out of the park and the Tigers have gained traction in his recruitment.

With Stone now out of the mix, LSU will continue its pursuit of Miller in hopes of flipping the Texas A&M commit their way.

Current LSU Commit Trending Elsewhere: Ondre Evans

There's been traction gaining with four-star cornerback Ondre Evans and a flip to the Georgia Bulldogs. In speaking with sources familiar with the situation, it isn't smoke.

LSU has been in contact with Evans, but his interest in the back-to-back National Champions is real. The LSU staff is turning up the heat to keep Evans a member of the purple and gold's 2024 class, but this is certainly a situation to monitor. The Tigers are putting in work on this one.

Flip Target: Bernard Causey

Ole Miss commitment Bernard Causey is at the top of LSU's "wish list" when it comes to adding another cornerback to the 2024 class. It's a position of need, and for Causey, he's a guy whose stock is rising at a rapid rate.

Experts within the industry believe LSU ultimately wins out here for Causey's services, and with a chance the Tigers lose Evans in the current cycle, it's a must this program locks down the in-state defensive back.

The Texas A&M Trio Hits Baton Rouge: The Latest

Kelly and his recruiting staff made a splash last weekend after bringing in a trio of Texas A&M commitments to town. LSU hosted five-star ATH Terry Bussey, four-star wide receiver Dre’lon Miller and four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford for visits.

Bussey returned to Baton Rouge once again after taking an official to LSU when the Tigers faced off against Arkansas in September. Shortly after his visit, he revealed his commitment to Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M. Now, it’s clear there’s mutual interest between LSU and Bussey after a return trip, but he remains locked in with the Aggies.

It'll be a challenge to flip Bussey from the Aggies, but it's a massive win for LSU to keep the door open.

Louisiana native Gabriel Reliford made the trip down to Baton Rouge. Reliford has been pledged to A&M for a while but it hasn’t stopped Kelly and Co. from pushing for his services. He’s visited campus on several occasions as this staff continues a full-court press to flip the current Aggie pledge.
