Video & Analysis: David DeJulius Speaks About Three-Guard Line Up

Juwan Howard has employed an interesting three-guard line up early on this season.

Senior Zavier Simpson, junior Eli Brooks and sophomore David DeJulius were on the court together for extended minutes against Creighton and it looked pretty good. DeJulius broke down exactly why it works and also gave his thoughts about the line up moving forward and once freshman Franz Wagner returns from injury.

Brown's Breakdown

I'm really excited to see how this team looks once Wagner is healthy but they're off to a pretty impressive start without him. They are playing free and definitely seem to be more active in transition and on defense in terms of deflections and steals.

If Howard is going to emphasize those areas, this three-guard line up is very strong. Brooks, DeJulius and Simpson can all fly and are very good on-ball defenders. Brooks and DeJulius have the ability to really fill it up from the outside and Simpson has shown over the course of his career that he can get to the basket and facilitate while getting his when he can.

Against Creighton, Simpson logged 34 minutes, scored 17 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed three rebounds. He did have four turnovers, but that's down from the six he had in the opener. Brooks played 34 minutes and added seven points of his own along with four assists and a steal. DeJulius, who played a career high 28 minutes in the game, dumped in nine points and grabbed seven rebounds to tie with Jon Teske for the team lead.
