Offensive lineman from prestigious high school program commits to MSU

The Spartans landed an underrated prospect out of St. Francis Academy in Baltimore...

Michigan State offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic is starting to build a little momentum in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Just a week after landing in-state prospect Andrew Dennis, the Spartans earned another commitment from three-star offensive lineman Logan Bennett out of St. Francis Academy in Baltimore.

Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 300 pounds, Bennett is considered an interior offensive lineman and projects as a guard at the collegiate level. Bennett is ranked the No. 1049 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He's considered the No. 78 interior offensive lineman and No. 32 player from the state of Maryland.

While Bennett's recruiting rankings don't jump out at you, some evaluators in the industry consider him an underrated and under-recruited prospect. Bennett has face stiff competition throughout his career while playing at one of the top high school football programs in the country.

Bennett has kept his recruitment close to the vest, but has eight reported scholarship offers including Boston College, Colorado and his home-state Maryland Terrapins.

With the addition of Bennett, Michigan State's 2024 recruiting class is now ranked No. 28 in the nation and No. 7 in the Big Ten. The Spartans currently have just four committed prospects in the class, each from a different state. Bennett and Dennis join four-star cornerbacks Jamari Howard (Hialeah, Fla.) and Jaylen Thompson (Murfreesboro, Tenn.).

Back on March 7, MSU lost its highest-ranked 2024 commit when four-star River Rouge (Mich.) wide receiver Nick Marsh re-opened his recruitment. The Spartans are still in the hunt to get Marsh back in the fold, but they have their work cut out for them in the battle for the No. 79 overall player in the country.
