It's official. All three of Michigan State football's scholarship quarterbacks from the 2023 season will continue their college careers at different programs.

On Saturday, redshirt freshman Katin Houser, the last remaining former Spartan QB in the transfer portal, announced via social media that he was committed to East Carolina for the 2024 season. He'll have three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Pirates.

Houser's decision comes after MSU freshman Sam Leavitt took his talents to Arizona State, and redshirt junior Noah Kim transferred to Coastal Carolina. Houser started the final seven games of the 2023 season for Michigan State, taking over for Kim following the Spartans' loss to Iowa in Week 5. In those seven starts, the redshirt freshman threw for 1,132 passing yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 112-of-191 pass attempts (59%).

A native of Bellflower, California and a product of the esteemed St. John Bosco High School, Houser was a four-star prospect in the Spartans' 2022 recruiting class. According to 247Sports composite rankings, Houser ranked No. 215 nationally, the No. 14 prep quarterback and No. 15 player from the state of California in his class.

Michigan State football is entering a new era under head coach Jonathan Smith, and the Spartans will have a new signal-caller in 2024. That appears to be quarterback Aidan Chiles, who played in a limited role in nine games for Smith at Oregon State this past season as a true freshman. Chiles, a former four-star and Top 150 recruit in the class of 2023, committed to MSU out of the transfer portal earlier this week.
