Spartan Nation 2007 Top Twenty-Five:Â Week one

  1. LSU: 1-0 NC Whipped an anemic MISS STATE but this weekend will be a war on the bayou with VT!
  2. Oklahoma: 1-0 NC I took a lot of grief with my prediction that the Sooners would play the Tigers for the national championship but Boomer Sooner is rolling in Norman.
  3. USC: 1-0 NC They get to take this weekend off getting ready for a show down in Lincoln with the Huskers on 9/15.
  4. Ohio State: 1-0 U1 The Buckeyes are rolling and even with the loss of Troy Smith are on a course that could land them in the BCS championship game should one of the top three stumble.
  5. West Virginia University: 1-0 U3 The Mountaineers have to prove they have a D but if they can assemble one, they have the O that could take them a long way.
  6. Virginia Tech: 1-0 NC They had a very unimpressive win, but with all the emotion surrounding the game, they get a pass from me.
  7. Georgia: 1-0 NC The score may not be as impressive as some of the others, but Georgia and the most underrated coach in the nation Mark Richt actually played and beat a real team.
  8. Wisconsin: 1-0 U1 Like the Bull dogs of UG the Badgers took on a WSU team with a four year starting QB and took care of business.
  9. CAL: 1-0 U15 The Bears demolished and demoralized the Volunteers with team speed that would make the Olympics blush.
  10. PSU: 1-0 U3 Joe Pa’s Lions took care of business. This week they host the Irish of Notre Dame.
  11. Nebraska: 1-0 U5 The Cornmen are on a roll and don’t look now but they can throw the ball and have one of the hardest hitting defenses in the nation.
  12. Florida: 1-0 U2 Young Mr. Tebow had a nice debut as the main guy. As the competition heats up can he maintain it?
  13. Texas: 1-0 D2 The Horns didn’t look impressive in beating a team they should have decimated.
  14. Louisville: 1-0 U1 Kragthorpe is a star in the rise and the Cardinals may have not even taken a step back with their old coach dealing with Vick now.
  15. South Carolina: 1-0 D3 They won, but were not impressive. Granted there was some off field issues, but they should have rolled.
  16. UCLA: 1-0 U3 The Bruins beat USC last year but this team is a program that is in full recovery. They may be the third best team in California but they are dangerous.
  17. Texas A/M: 1-0 NC The Aggies and Coach Fran have to make a statement this season. They won, but they made no statements.
  18. Hawaii: 1-0 U2 Don’t call him Colt anymore, this QB is a stud!
  19.  Boise State: 1-0 U3 No statue of liberty play here but they did what they do best and that is winning.
  20. Miami, FL:Â 1-0 U3 Shannon is a very good coach and has a long way to go to restore a worthy swagger.
  21. Clemson: 1-0 NR They win the Bowden Bowl and once again the son teaches Daddy a few lessons.
  22. Georgia Tech: 1-0 NR No doubt the Yellow Jacket D is among the best in the nation but Coach Gailey has found himself an offense. They Jackets could be real dangerous if their O can hold up.
  23. Auburn:Â 1-0 NR They beat a very good Kansas State team and showed that the year has a huge upside.
  24. FSU: 0-1 D20 Clemson is a good ball club but the Seminoles new staff can’t fix last years problems and better fix it fast to save the season.
  25. Iowa:Â 1-0 D5 They won but were very unimpressive!
