Thanks to all of you that took time to search the archives and make sure you didn’t repeat questions. Many good ones as usual and I appreciate you all taking the time to drop me a Q!

Who will the Lions start at safety? Do you think Kenoy will get it?
Keith
Â
Hi Keith
If Bullocks is healthy, I think you will see him and Alexander get the nod. Bullocks played really well his rookie year, and all off-season before his injury last season. Safety is for sure one of the Lions bright spots at the starting positions, and I know that Marinelli loves them both.

I love Dan Campbell. If he is back healthy will he be the TE next season and will they utilize that position more with the new offensive staff?
Carter
Â
Hello Carter!
First of all, losing Dan Campbell last year was huge. That guy if he isn’t among the best blocking TE’s in the game is close and add to that his receiving. If he is healthy he will be the guy and you will see more of him also. He is a threat because teams under estimate him and although he isn’t a Winslow/Gates type player he makes them pay.

There was a dback whom you couldn't believe that the Lions wouldn't use
A 4th or 5th round pick on. Sorry, I can't remember his name. Do you recall this and how did this work out for him and the team that did draft him? Other words, did the Lions screw up again? Thanks!
Hope

Hi Hope.
His name was Paul Oliver. He was selected by what many call the best DB's in the NFL, the San Diego Chargers. He played sparingly, but he has pro bowlers in front of him. It was said that had he been on any other team he would have been a starter and here is the stinger...they got him in the fourth round. We had higher round guys than that not even make the squad. I can tell you that I know for a fact that there were some NFL people that just shook their heads at that decision.

Â
Hondo,
Do you have any idea if the Lions will look at Justin Smith the FA DE from the Bengals?
Marty
Â
Â
Hi Marty.
He is a guy that Kitna can vouch for. He would fit this system really well and I know that there are some that really like him. The biggest question is if the Lions will spend the money and if his demands are reasonable enough to come here? He is someone that they are really interested in, but with combine and pro days fast approaching I can tell you that can change. Some people who are just into numbers would look at his sack total last season (2) and think he stinks. What they don’t know is that teams had to game plan for him and he faced solid blocking schemes and double teams essentially the whole season. He reminds me a lot of Dewayne White who so many last year ripped and look what he did!

Is Matt Millen the worst GM/President in professional sports history?Â
Matthew
Â
Matthew, Matthew, Matthew!
If you looked only at his record and didn’t know facts that have gone on behind the scenes you would call his tenure the worst ever in the history of sports. That said, the Matt Millen story that I am working on will point out a lot of things behind the scenes that will make some people really think. There are other people who are not getting the heat as they should and we will look at that.

I get sick every year seeing teams like the Giants (you mentioned that in your article) and others getting so many rookies who contribute. Can the Lions please spend the money and get some people in here to help.
Myles
Â
WOW three people in a row with M names. Fitting for a Lions article. I have said for a while that the Lions have a bad scouting staff. I said to one Lions official last year that it was, “Horrendous.” Matt needs to fire many of them (not all) and address that quickly. You can’t obviously do it know, but as soon as the draft is over he needs to. He should have done it several years ago.

Nice job with the top 20 in the draft article. Aqib Talib now has my attention. How realistic is getting him?
Kurny
Â
Thanks for the compliment Kurny.
Here is the deal. Like I said in the article, it all depends on how people draft. As I said last year, I would have taken Patrick Willis if I was the Lions and he dropped way to far to the Niners. Scouts are all saying the Matt Ryan is the best QB, but only about #20 in the best players list. Well I know for a FACT according to some NFL people that the Fish are shopping the #1 pick, but if they can’t unload it they very well could take Ryan. If teams draft stupid it is very possible. I would say it is probably about a 40% chance. Either way, they should (knock on wood) fill a need a 15.

Thanks everyone. As always you are all great! See you next week.
