Big Ten Conference to Recognize Wounded Warriors at Women’s and Men’s Basketball Tournaments

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Big Ten Conference will honor our nation’s wounded heroes during both its women’s and men’s basketball tournaments in Indianapolis. In partnership with Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP), the Big Ten has invited Wounded Warriors from various branches of service, including the Marine Corps, Air Force, Army and Navy, to attend games of the tournaments and be recognized at halftime.

Wounded Warriors will attend the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament championship game on Sunday, March 4. The game tips at 4 p.m. ET at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Wounded Warriors will also be recognized at the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament. During the semifinals on Saturday, March 10, Wounded Warriors will be recognized at halftime of the second semifinal. The session begins at 1:40 p.m. ET.

WWP is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors and make this the most successful, well-adjusted generation of veterans in our nation’s history.

“Wounded Warriors are models of service and dedication, and being publicly recognized for their sacrifices at events like this can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them,” said Steve Nardizzi, Executive Director of WWP. “Our hope is that these warriors also inspire the teams and fans around the country as they share their stories of recovery and resiliency.”

Over 47,000 service members have been physically wounded during the current military conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. WWP is equipped to serve our military with every type of injury – from the physical to the invisible wounds of war.
