Just When I Thought I was out.. They Pull Me Back In... Then throw me back
out again.

Count me as one of the non-believers. I should have known that in a game
that basically breaks down to five against one that the five will always
prevail in the end, but I didn’t think they would do it. Even though this
Piston team had done it 10 times before when facing elimination I thought
they would fall in six to the Cav’s, but they came out on top to put all
of us non-believers in our place.

So now what? Â How can I doubt this team that time and time again rises to
the occasion? How can anyone think that Miami or any team for that matter
can beat them? Is it even possible? Well frankly yes it is.

Now it’s no longer five against one it’s five against two and half.Â
Dwayne Wade, Shaq, and the old men that have been lacing up their shoes
since the days of the Chuck Taylor Converse All-Stars. You know Payton, Zo,
and old man Walker. The odds are still in the Piston’s favor, but to say
that this series is going to be a cake walk would be ignorant.

Why the Pistons will win. They are the better team when they want to be.Â
They can play smothering defense, they can move without the ball and create
open jump-shots, they can dictate the tempo, push the ball and run sets when
needed and play unselfish basketball finding the man with the hot hand. All
these traits are what made this team successful in the regular season.

Why the Pistons will lose. The regular season is over. I don’t see the
fire in Detroit’s eyes. The fans are stunned, they need to play with
urgency and they aren’t and I don’t they will. In other words they
don’t care. The team is banking on their chemistry and talent to override
effort. It won’t work, the heat have something to prove and they are
proving it.

Another factor… coaching. Pat Riley is the man. He is a great coach who
has been here and won here before. Flip is a good coach who has a great
team but if it comes down to a game of strategy I’m not confident that
Saunder’s is the better of the two. Let’s just say I wouldn’t want
him drawing up the final play with the game on the line. But honestly I
don’t think it’s going to come to that.

I’m calling Thursday a must win. If the Piston’s lose tomorrow I just
don’t see how they can weather another storm. They’ve proved everyone
wrong before and they will probably do it again. I’m can’t be called a
non-believer anymore but the harder I look the harder it becomes to see the
fire in the eyes of the Pistons with all this heat.
