Do Pro-athletes care.....as least as much as you do?

We live it. We breathe it. We watch it when it’s on and think about it when it’s not. Yes we are the die hard fans of professional sports.

No matter what sport, in which city, or which country, we exist. We’re exuberant in victory and devastated in defeat.

But are you ready for the news? Your favorite professional player doesn’t share in the same enthusiasm you have for your team!

For them, yes, it’s about winning, and winning at the highest of levels. But don’t confuse yourself with their motivation and how it compares to yours.

You have grown up with years of frustration, heartache and those few memories that have made you a fan for life.

They have grown and developed as an athlete trying to reach the pinnacle of their profession, and it doesn’t matter who they play for.

Most don’t know the history of your ball club and what it means to be a life long follower. If they do, they don’t understand it. They come from different backgrounds, different eras and have their own teams they’ve rooted for, before arriving at your doorstep.

For instance, take Brett Favre; Arguably one of the most, if not the most recognizable figure in Green Bay history. After a long and Hall of Fame worthy career, Favre moved on like the winds in the fall. First to New York and seemingly followed by your division rival Vikings.

Blasphemy! How could a Packer, leave. Not only leave but go to the mega-villain New York base and even think about a foe to your west?

It’s simple; he’s not a Packer die hard. He never was, and never will be. Yes he played on your team, won you a Super Bowl and will have his jersey hung in your sacred field. But…he’s not a Packer.

A Green Bay die hard, at least the ones I know wouldn’t even entertain the thought, and probably give the one finger way to Viking, Jets and Bears fans as they pass on the highway.

But this isn’t a Brett Favre or Green Bay issue, it’s a professional sports issue that is happening in all sports and fans shouldn’t get confused.

When you’re watching the game he’s not trying to win for your years of pain and wants to see your joy in a victory before you die. He’s there to win it for himself and his teammates.

He’s not a die hard, no matter how long he’s been a member of your organization. They will come and go, win and lose, but your passion is unmatched and your connection can never be compared.
