Each and every year, the various newspapers throughout the state run their “all I want for Christmas list.”  Usually the same journalist’s try to come up with something clever and it turns into an unbiased, politically correct spew of good fortune. So Spartan Nation, here it goes. I’ve made my list and I’ve checked it twice.
Â
Â
Tom Izzo: Most of the “unbiased” writers will be saying a berth to the NCAA is appropriate. I am going to out on a limb and say that a tourney berth would be coupled with low expectations. How about a lifetime contract extension? I’ll just put Delvon Roe in Tom’s stocking and call it a day.
Â
Matt Trannon: Sometimes the simplest of things will do, like a new pair of boxing gloves, an autographed picture of Charlie Weiss and an NFL draft in the first four rounds. Just kidding Matt, we know if you’d really hit him, it would have required a forklift to cart him off the field.
Â
Joanna P. McCallie: Another Big Ten title to hang in the rafters and a cloning machine to produce another Alyssa DeHaan.Â
Â
Mark Dantonio: We’ll start young Mark’s list with an endless supply of energy, followed by patience from the MSU community. We’ll then top it off with a stocking stuffed with Joseph Barksdale, Ronald Johnson and a Big Ten-caliber quarterback.
Â
Drew Neitzel: A Big Ten scoring title would go nicely with a conference championship and a run to the Great 8.
Â
Ron Mason: A standing ovation at the Breslin Center when LAS announces his retirement.
Â
Marquise Gray: ‘Quise could use some shoulder pads and a helmet. His “Flintstone” friend Antonio is back in town, in case you hadn’t heard.
Â
Brian Hoyer:Â A monster fullback with good hands and a healthy Mike Gytevai and Javon Ringer.
Â
Kellen Davis: We’ll start with a solid spring practice and a strong 2007 with 40 receptions and 600 yards. Said more simply, the breakout year everyone is waiting for.
Â
Â
Tom Herzog: Twenty pounds of lean muscle mass.
Â
Alyssa DeHann: A quadruple double against Michigan and Big Ten and National Freshman of the Year honors.
Â
Drew Stanton: Where do you start? No regrets about his choice to attend MSU, a strong NFL combine and a first-round draft selection.
Â
Raymar Morgan: A healthy shin, a Big Ten Freshman of the year award, 15 points, 10 rebounds and a win over Ohio State in Columbus.
Â
Tommy Amaker: A long-term contract extension.
Â
John L. Smith:Â Health and happiness to John L. and his family.
Â
The Great Spartan Nation:Â Football Saturdays with friends and family, healthy children, safe return of loved ones from military service overseas, gainful employment, a kick-butt Christmas tree and a passion for everyday life.
Â
We can all dream, can’t we? Hope your holidays are full of happiness and an abundance of holiday cheer. Stay the course, Spartan Nation and, oh, I almost forgot. I’ll take a one-point victory over the Wolverines in Spartan Stadium. Is a last-second, 48-yard Brett Swenson field goal too much to ask? If you don’t mind, throw in a little clock controversy. I love to hear those Wal-Mart Wolverines whine the way they do.
