Don’t Count The Tigers Out Yet This Season
In case you haven’t been paying too much attention to the Detroit Tigers over the past few weeks, let me just give you a short recap…they’ve been LOSING! They lost two of three to Oakland and the White Sox swept them at home. That’s not the kind of baseball you want to be playing with less than two months to go in the regular season.
Now, everyone is talking about is now the right time to hit the panic button. If we had everyone playing on the team and nobody on the disabled list then you could hit the panic button but you have to take everything into consideration when you get upset and how the Tigers are playing. Marcus Thames is out, so are Kenny Rogers and Andrew Miller and Gary Sheffield will hopefully be back for the last game of the series with Tampa Bay. I mean come on, this is not the same Tigers team because they don’t have all of the same players right now. Yes, Ryan Raburn and Mike Hessman are doing a pretty decent job while they are up from Triple-A but it’s not the same and you know it. Is Jordan Tata the same as Kenny Rogers? No.
If the Tigers were playing the way they are now and it was the end of September, then I would start to panic because that would mean that they would possibly not make the playoffs. But take a look at something else; with the way that they’ve been playing, they still lead the A.L. wildcard right now. I mean how cool is that! Its not cool that we’re losing but to be losing as much as the Tigers are and still be first in the A.L. wildcard is good because WHEN the Tigers start winning again, they can gain ground on the Indians and take back over the first place spot in the A.L. Central.
All I have to say is the Tigers better not go into a slump at the end of the season again and lose the A.L. Central because last year, that was just absolutely horrible.
There is still a lot of baseball to be played and the Tigers are not returning to their old ways. Don’t start to panic and don’t count the Tigers out. They have it in them…all you have to do is believe!
