Hollis, Izzo and Dantonio Get New Contract Extensions!

MSU Board approves contract extension for AD, coaches

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan State University Board of Trustees today approved contract extensions through 2016 for athletics director Mark Hollis, football coach Mark Dantonio and men’s basketball coach Tom Izzo.

Approved by the board was a three-year extension for Hollis, who has served as AD since 2007, as well as one-year extensions for Dantonio and Izzo.

MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon said it is about more than just stability and continuity. It’s about keeping together a great team with great people. She added that Hollis and the coaches have a shared vision of Team MSU and of MSU athletics and the direction they want to see the program move in the future.

“Our athletics department, under the effective leadership of Mark Hollis, has demonstrated what I think is a commendable record of reflecting the standards and expectations of the MSU community. On and off the field. On the court and in the classroom,†Simon said. “Today’s action calls attention to athletic leadership here that is marked by very good people, composing a very good team, and a future with stability as well as excellence.â€

The board also approved contract extensions for women’s basketball coach Suzy Merchant through 2014 and hockey coach Rick Comley through 2013
