Hondo answers some of your Lions questions...

Any word on how KJ is doing?
Carl
Â
Hi Carl!
He is progressing well. Anything before game six is a blessing but that is where they see him coming back. Again, that is not set in stone, just a benchmark.

Is it just me looking through Honolulu Blue glasses or is Ernie Sims on of the best outside linebackers in the NFL already?

Max

Â
Hi Max
It is not just because you are a fan. He is. Talking to people around the league they all consider him a real star. In the Tampa Two his particular position is very critical and he fits it to a T. Make no mistake that the comparisons to D. Brooks are not a mistake Dude is a star.

How critical is a win this weekend in getting to 2-0 and getting Ford Field rocking like the old Silverdome with home field advantage.
Sean
Â
Hi Sean.
I couldn’t agree more with you on this on. If the Lions are going to get above .500 and even flirt with Kitna’s prediction this is a must win. It will also show us a lot. This is a very good defense that they Vikes have and although they are weak at QB they have a superior OL and a great RB. This game only counts as one, but it stands for a lot more. If the Lions win this (and I think they will) we all will know a lot more.

Could we move Backus to LG and play Scott at LT next year? What can we do if anything to fix the OL? Do we need to draft someone?
Jason
Â
Hi Jason!
Contrary to what you have read and heard, had CJ not been available and the Lions not able to trade out they would have taken Joe Thomas. Here is my hope. I want to see the Lions be able to maneuver and get Jake Long of UM in this next draft and move Backus to RT. He simply isn’t what I want from a LT in the NFL. Nice guy but not a dominating LT. As far as moving him to guard I have actually heard others suggest it. I wouldn’t do it during the season but I kind of like that idea. The Lions will have to go OL high in next year’s draft. You have to address the most important part of your team (the OL and DL) high in the draft and I don’t see how they can avoid it much longer.

Hi Hondo
I want to see more of Duckett. How serious is the ankle sprain.
Gary from the Lions Underground
Â

Hi Gary

TJ took a fall from a big lineman and it is the worst kind of sprain, it is called a high ankle sprain and that means it is up in the ligaments and tendons. I will be surprised to see him this week and maybe out two.

Please tell me that Jon Kitna won’t get hurt. If he does, then the Lions are screwed.
Kate
Â
Hello Kate.
I can’t tell you he won’t but he is a tough cookie. That is why I can’t stand the decision to put Stanton on IR. If he stays healthy they rolled the dice and won. If he does not it was one of the worst personnel decisions all time for the Lions…and that is saying a lot.

O.K. everyone, I have to go see you next Wed for some Q and A!
