Hello folks!
Thanks again for taking the time to read Spartan Nation.
- Don’t forget to join me each weeknight for Mid-Michigan’s most sports at 6:15 p.m.
- All this week you will hear from Tom Izzo on the evening news as he breaks down what went wrong this season.
- I said it here first and told you that Kelvin Sampson was going to get the IU job. I also told you how much I like Kelvin personally and professionally but this WAS a terrible move for him. All the polls tell us that the IU faithful hate this move. Let’s face it; the once proud IU program has shrunk to a terrible wave of crap because of the fans. Not the administration, the fans!
- Kenny Rogers has looked really good this spring for the Tigers and has probably had his last start of the spring until opening day.
- Now that the MSU women have concluded the year, next year will clearly be a transition season for them. Look for the ladies to have a good year but expectations need to be realistic as the first lady of Spartan sports, Coach P., moves them ahead next year.
- With 7 teams now vowing for the services of Joey “The Baby Kangaroo†Harrington, all signs still point to the Chiefs but anything could happen with a team stepping up.
- MLB will appoint FMR Senator George Mitchell to oversee and investigation into the steroid past. Bud Selig, the commissioner of the MLB is an absolute tool. How in the heck this moron thinks that all those years of ignoring the obvious can be fixed is foolish. The worst commission in sports is what the pathetic Selig is. Baseball could do a lot more to fix itself by getting rid of that dufus. Bank of America and Home Depot both huge national sponsors say they will participate in NO celebration for Bonds and have really put the heat on them.
- Nook Logan will not make the trip north with the Tigers. A fact that readers of this blog knew 4 weeks ago, as I am the one that broke the story right here.
- Lebron went for 46 last night, and that young man is just sick. I thought he was good when he came in, but I thought he was over hyped. I WAS WRONG. He is the real deal, and will surpass Jordan, (if he stays healthy and motivated) one day, hopefully a long way from now.
- Props to the Pistons who went off on the 76ers last night by 10. The NBA’s best have continued rolling.
- Flip Saunders reading the Spartan Nation Blog? Who knows folks, but after writing that piece in my blog about the discontent that is all around the Pistons and how he had the same issues in Minnesota, he finally addressed it with the media. Looking at the 2 games since I wrote that, he has been more conservative and we have seen McDyess and others step up. Great move Flipper!
- The Denver Broncos are very interested in the Packers Javon Walker. He wants out of Green Bay so look for this deal to maybe happen.
- One Bengal told me that they love Lavar Arringotn in C-town and they really want him in the Bengal orange.
- As bad as Bud Selig is in MLB, Saints owner Tom Benson is worse. How that guy ever was successful enough in business to make the jack to buy and NFL team is beyond me. What a joke!
- The NHL’s best Red Wings are going to do all they can to resign Nicklas Lidstrom.
- UM vs. South Carolina in the NIT championship game tonight. ZZZZZZZ!
- Jaromir Jagr is really considering retirement now, and for hockey; he has been nothing better then a model citizen and hockey will lose a great man with his departure.
- Steve Yzerman has met yet another career milestone and he is the finest of men. Props to Stevie Y!
- As the NFL imposes yet more rules against any fun, they endanger themselves with the fans. Make no mistake, the fans don’t like all the crap, but they do love fun. Football is more emotion then anything else. You cannot take the emotion element out. Eliminate crap, but leave the fun alone.
- With commissioner Tagliabue saying he will be gone by July 1, let me tell you a secret, he won’t be. NFL owners know it, and so does Tags. He wants out, but this is going to be brutal and all parties know, (they just aren’t telling you) he will still be the commissioner on July 1.
- It is only 6 months and 8 days until the MSU vs. UM football game!
Thanks everyone, hug your loved ones and remind them that you love them!
-H
