Hondo's Blog

Hello folks!
Thanks again for taking the time to read Spartan Nation.

  • On Monday’s House my guest will be Ryan Van Dyke. Former Marshall high, MSU and current Grand Rampage of the arena league QB.
  • Today’s MSU game was disappointing. However, like I told Coach Izzo after the game, it isn’t like the sky is falling, this is a 20 win team. MSU struggled today with energy, not effort. They simply got beat by a better team. I understand that it was a 36-hour turn around from the Wisconsin game, but that is what it is.
  • If the players thought a 36-hour turn around stunk, now they face potentially 4 in 4 days to win the Big Ten tournament.
  • Marquise Gray’s foot is not sprained as previously thought, it is broken, and he told me after the game that he is out for the season.
  • Look for Trannon to return for the Big Ten tournament next weekend.
  • I am heading out to Indy right after I write this for the women’s tournament. The ladies had a very impressive win last night, and face the #1 seed in Ohio State tomorrow at 1.
  • It appears that the owners and the players have agreed upon a new revenue sharing number of 58%. They are very close, and 2 NFL sources that I have spoken to this afternoon tell me that they are preparing as if the deal is done.
  • The Marlins stud pitcher Dontrelle Willis, will become available this season, and when he does, be it now or at the trade deadline, look to the Tigers. They covet and love that young man, and will be players according to a source very close to the situation.
  • Brett Favre is posturing with the Packers have GM Ted Thompson certainly took his shots at Favre. I do (and so do my sources) believe he will be back, but I would be shocked if he is a Packer.
  • One college football source today, told me that Texas and Mack Brown have done such a good job recruiting that they have as many as the next three classes locked. He said, “they just work harder then any two programs in the nation.”
  • I am a big fan of the Izzone. That said, when Augustine went to the locker room injured today, a SMALL group of them decided to taunt him. I thought it was classless and to be frank, it misrepresented what it meant to be a Spartan. You certainly cannot blame the entire Izzone for the classless act of a few, but those who did it shouldn’t be in the Izzone.
  • It is no secret that I think Tom Izzo is the best coach in the country, that said, when some fans decided to chant Weber sucks at the Illini head coach, I was embarrassed and asked myself why they didn’t shut up and look at the scoreboard.
  • It is only 7 months and 3 days until the MSU vs. UM football game!

Thanks everyone, hug your loved ones and remind them that you love them!
