Hondo's Exclusive Interview With New Lions OT Gosder "THE GOZ" Cherilus
Hondo: It’s your first few weeks here in the NFL, how are you enjoying it?
Goz: It’s going great. I’m enjoying myself running around, getting to know the play book a little bit, getting to know the guys, see how they practice their plays. I’m really doing well right now.
Hondo: At this level everybody’s big like you, speed’s the difference. Are you adjusting to the speed? Did it surprise you how fast everybody is?
Goz: Yeah but by now, I already got most of the speed down, but knowing that, it’s all guys that don’t have pads on. You can work with your hands and your feet. I know I haven’t seen the true speed yet but like from what I’m seeing right now, I feel good about it. I feel good about where I’m heading.
Hondo: You’re just the kind of guy, you want to get the pads on and hit people. Talk about speed all you want but it’s about contact. Aren’t you just excited about that?
Goz: Ideally that’s the game. We’ll strap on and go out there and beat the guy that lines up across from you. And ideally today, if I have 11 on my side, to the other 11, we are going to be successful regardless. That’s what we truly want to do, but I like what’s going on so far because you can just run and go beat somebody up. If you look at the playbook, you look at the little things, I think that’s what I think me being here, being next to all those guys, teaching me the playbook, teaching me how to practice, how to play the game at this level, it’s great for me.
