On the addition of Nebraska in terms of recruiting: Not sure what the impact will be recruiting wise, but I like the addition. People in Iowa are excited about it.

On the possibility of a rivalry game with Nebaska: I’ve never been through an expansion process. There will be traditional things that get changed, but there are plenty of people more qualified than me making those decisions.

On National Perception of the Conference: We were getting beat up pretty good in 2002 when I got here, the league performed well. OSU national title, etc. Bowl performances by the Big Ten teams were pretty good. The Big Ten is fantastic in all regards. We don’t have to defend ourselves to anybody.

Preference in divisional Alignment: I don’t have a preference. It’s not as simple as what looks to be logical, so we’ll live with whatever gets decided.

Picked as #2 in the conference. Chances against OSU: Haven’t had much luck against them. In the long haul, OSU has done a tremendous job and built a really outstanding program. If you want to win the league, you better be able to compete and beat OSU.

Strong start and tough finish a point of motivation? Sure, of course. We were fortunate to beat Northern Iowa, but really settled in. We play in a conference that is really competitive and we need to make sure we understand the task at hand.

RB competition: Hopefully it’ll be a healthier situation than it has been the past few years. Last year, we had a hard time keeping two guys healthy. I’d settle for two guys healthy, but I love to have three with game experience available to us. Not sure how it’ll shake out.
