It is Time to Fill Spartan Stadium!!

Spartan fans it is time to show up. There have been too many empty seats in Spartan Stadium the past two weekends. We cannot blame those that were kicked out of their seats due to the student section expansion. Some of you didn’t renew your tickets after the university informed you that they were moving you to another area. I guess eminent domain reaches far and wide these days. Who knew the law applied to Spartan Stadium?
Ok, enough about my eminent domain rants. We have been screaming since Saban left for a winner. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that we’ve got one. No one is going to bait me into giving my revised Spartan prediction. Let me just say that I don’t think 6-6 is a bold prediction anymore. When you look at the way the Big Ten is shaping up, it is anyone’s conference to win. Michigan State can beat any team on their schedule. If I had to pick a winner, I’d have to put Penn State in the driver’s seat. Joe Pa has a stout defense and they really get to the ball. I believe our Spartans will be bowling at the end of the season. We have to do our part as fans and make sure that all 75,000 seats are filled on Saturdays with the Spartan Nation firmly united behind Dantonio’s boys. Eight thousand empty seats for Saturday’s Pitt game would be pathetic. Pitt may not be the best team to visit Spartan Stadium this season, but they are a BCS conference opponent.
I believe that this MSU team has bought into Dantonio’s philosophy. I really believe that they are going to compete for four quarters and win some games that most analysts picked the Spartans to lose. Our fan base needs to buy into the Dantonio system and show up in force on Saturday. These guys have worked their butts off. They are the least penalized team in the Big Ten. The Spartan Nation should not penalize our players for 7 years of bad coaching.
We have gotten everything we’ve asked for from Mark Dantonio’s Spartan team. I know it is early in the season, but 67,000 people for a BCS opponent is unacceptable. It is unspartan. I’m not going to scold you, beg you or sell you anymore “Green Kool-Aid.†I have to confess, I went to the store and bought the last packet of that green powdery goodness myself. I am drinking it down like dollar pitchers during welcome week. I believe; I am sold and these guys deserve a sellout crowd on Saturday at Spartan Stadium. So pack the coolers, fire up the Econoline, grab your brats, toss the old musty couch in the back of the truck, pick up a new propane cylinder and head for East Lansing on Saturday. Sixty degrees, partly cloudy, slight wind out of the northwest… doesn’t get any better. It’s football season. We got a Thornhill wearing #41, two great tailbacks to crash the endzone, a blitzing defense, a beautiful campus, a raucous student section, the best marching band in America, beautiful cheerleaders and our friends and family. We are the Spartan Nation. Become a true citizen of the great Spartan Nation and support our “Men In Green.â€
