There is a lot of debate inside the NFL as they ALLEDGEDLY explore holding a Super Bowl outside of the US. The locale most talked about is London, but does it make sense anywhere outside the borders of the greatest nation on earth?

The NFL is run better than most Fortune500 companies and everything that they have touched has become golden. Does that make it right for them to push it out of the country?

Now before you flood the Spartan Nation email box, think of how many times NFL teams have used OUR tax dollars to fund new stadiums IN AMERICA and the NFL itself operates with a wink and a nod from the federal anti trust laws (Which also are part of America for all of you people that didn’t have to take a High School civics or government class.)

I hate this idea. This is dumb. I love trying to export the greatest game in the world as missionaries of sport. I love trying to convince the world that is in love with a game like soccer that finds a 1-0 game exhilarating. We owe it to many of them that have been allies for years to teach and lead them into the virtues of a great game. BUT DON’T GIVE THEM OUR SUPER BOWL!

I am all for reaching out. I am all for trying to brighten the lives of millions of people by showing them the redeeming glory of 300+ pound men pounding on one another and the greatness of the game of REAL football. The idea of sharing the Super Bowl is absurd.

I love it when our people go over to other countries and try to spread the great assets of the greatest nation on earth. But at the end of the day the American people made the Super Bowl Super. Their embrace, their acceptance and their passion made the Super bowl Super. By their tax dollars in many cities and their TV sets being turned on and their purchase of clothes and tickets.

Growing up I was allowed to miss church on Super Sunday. It was the only Sunday that I knew I had a pass. My father knew that probably God took the day off for the game. Football is Americana. We moan about the 217 hour pre game show, but we watch. We gather and eat and watch and cheer and complain and celebrate. It is an American tradition.

The world should be given the chance to embrace real football. They shouldn’t be given the Super Bowl. That is ours and we won’t share. Take a pre season game. Take a regular season game. Don’t touch the playoffs or the Super Bowl. That crosses a line.

Oh and don’t take away my milk duds. You know, that whole fat guy thing can get dicey when food enters the equation and I don’t want to get angry. Or Reese peanut butter cups and…you get the point.
