Lions Expand Training Camp Access

Allen Park, Mich.-The Detroit Lions will open training camp to the public at their headquarters and training facility in Allen Park for a second-straight year. The general public is invited to attend Lions training camp July 29, August 1 and August 4-5.

Training camp practice viewing areas at the team's headquarters and training facility in Allen Park have been increased to accommodate approximately 700 fans. Specific practice times for the general public will be available approximately 24 hours in advance. There are currently eight practice sessions scheduled for general public access with two sessions each on: Tuesday, July 29; Friday, August 1; Monday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 5. Access will be limited to the first 700 fans on a first-come, first-serve basis.

After successfully opening training camp on a limited basis in 2007, the team is expanding open practice opportunities for the public in 2008 with a total of 22 scheduled open sessions along with increased seating capacity. The Lions have also reserved dates for account holders on the following dates: season ticket holders (July 24-28), suite holders and sponsors (July 30), club seat holders (July 30). Account holders must pre-register for designated practice sessions. Invitations that include registration instructions and training camp schedule information have been previously distributed to account holders.

DAILY PRACTICE INFORMATION
Fans are encouraged to visit Detroitlions.com for daily practice information, including weather updates, practice times and any changes to the team's training camp schedule. Practice sessions at Allen Park are open for outdoor practices only and are subject to change. In the case of inclement weather, practices will be moved indoors and therefore closed to the public. Rain Dates are available as necessary and will be announced for selected sessions that close due to inclement weather. Information on practice access will also be available through the team's Training Camp Hotline (313.262.2882).

Morning sessions will typically start at 8:35 a.m. and afternoon sessions at 4:30 p.m. Some afternoons are designated as special team practice sessions, which typically begin at 3:30 p.m. Gates will open 30 minutes prior to each practice session.

Parking is available in designated lots on Republic Drive near the Lions Headquarters and Training Facility. Gates will open 30 minutes prior to the start of each practice session (ex: 8:05 a.m. for 8:35 a.m. practice). Re-entry is not permitted and children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Personal belongings are subject to inspection upon entry and items not permitted into open practices include: professional cameras (lenses over five inches long and/or 50mm or above), any video camera, food, beverage, coolers, lawn chairs, blankets, umbrellas, backpacks or large bags.

The fan viewing area features: bleacher seating areas, additional standing areas, a shaded tent area, The Roar & More team store, offering items such as official 2008 Training Camp and Sideline apparel, and concessions. Though autographs are not guaranteed, it was common in 2007 for Lions' players and coaches to meet fans following practice sessions.
