1. I have no concerns with Kelly Butler, the massive right tackle from Purdue in his second season, and his abilities to play that position with the departure of Stockar McDougle to Miami.
2. Mike Williams, after getting in better shape will be a huge target over the middle for the Lions. He will certainly give smaller (height) LB’s a tough assignment.
3. Joey Harrington looks better than Garcia, but the perception is that the leash is very short and Lions players like Garcia off the field as well. That is not to say that they hate Joey, they do however like Garcia who is in his first season.
4. Jason Randle (former MSU TE), I predict, if he continues as he is will make this team.
5. Kalimba Edwards may not.
6. Shaun Cody will be a force in the NFL before it is over.
7. The Lions, top to bottom, have the best depth at LB in the NFC North!
8. DE Cory Redding seems poised for a breakout season if he can avoid costly mental mistakes.
9. Earl Holmes is a great team player and should get bonus pay as an additional coach to the deep LB unit.
10. Speed kills and the Lions are fast!
11. The Lions have far superior depth at all positions then at any time in several years. Thus creating a very competitive camp.
12. The Lions will use the three-receiver set often.
13. After a season with only 6 LB sacks, the Lions are going to blitz and blitz often.
14. With all the talk about the 3 #1 receivers, don’t forget that Mooch favors the running game and their success depends on the legs of Kevin Jones.
15. I predict that Kevin Jones (if healthy) will run for over 1,600 yards.
16. Kevin Johnson will be a great addition to this team and if asked upon because of injury or performance to step up, will do very well for our Lions.
17. Marcus Pollard may not have the best numbers at the end of this season, but he could very possibly be the MVP of our offensive squad with his great abilities.
18. If the QB position can be functional (something it has not been) then this team could compete for the NFC North crown and be a major force in the NFC.
