Can you believe it? The playoffs are almost here! After a few games tonight and tomorrow, the district action will begin next week! Where has this season gone? Teams are going to either play their best basketball of the season or grab the track spikes and baseball bats. Starting next week, it’s either win or go home. Very few players will walk off the court a winner and some dreams may die. Fortunately, the memories made and lessons learned while playing high school sports will stay with the young men and women who participated for a lifetime. Let’s get it going!

High Score of the Week

Detroit Westside Christian 109 Dearborn Advance Tech 88 (192 points)

What a game! Dearborn Advance Tech has been mentioned a few times in this column for their high scores. This time, they were on the losing end of the battle, though. Dmontay Roberts scored 18 points and pulled down 22 rebounds. Djuan Williams scored 26 and stole five balls. Derrick Brocks scored 20. In the losing effort, Robert Jones scored 25.

Century Club

Madison Heights Madison 102 Detroit Midtown Academy 82 (184 points)

This Madison Heights Madison team is ready to rock and roll. They played two games this past week, and twice went over the century mark.  I believe this is the only time that i've written about the same team going over the 100 point mark twice in one week.  Although, I could be wrong.  A few seasons ago, Whittemore Lake was scoring TONS of points.

Madison Heights Madison 109 Hamtramck 80

Damon Bozeman scored 28 points in the winning effort. Tevin Washington scored 20. For Hamtramck, Nadis Ahmic led all scorers with 37 points.

Low Score of the Week

Sturgis 37 Coldwater 25 (62 points)

Like many of the games that fall into the Low Score of the Week, there were no reports of the game. Let’s hope it was all about great defense and not poor offense.

Coach Cottrell’s BLOWOUT of the Week

Boyne Falls 85 Alanson 21 (64 points)

It was a good night for senior center Josh Puroll. He scored 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Loggers in their win. Logan Jenkins scored 18 points, all of which were three point shots made in the first quarter. He also tossed six assists. Marcus Matelski scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. For Alanson, Cody Wicker scored 11 and had 16 rebounds. Brandon Kuchnicki scored eight and pulled in 10 rebounds.
