Alright boys and girls! It’s time for basketball! The season has been going for about three weeks and there have been some very good games. There have been so not as good games as well. This season should be a lot of fun. Get out to the local gym as soon as possible and support the youngsters. They deserve it!

High Score of the Week Part 1/Century Club Part 1

Detroit Country Day 110 Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 77 (187 points) (December 18th)

Wow. This was a high flying game for both teams. 15 players for Country Day scored. Mory Diane scored 20 to lead all scorers. Poet Thomas scored 11. Christian Wright scored 10. For Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard, Jason Houle scored 16, followed by Kamari Davis with 15 and Evan Fosha with 14. The Yellow Jackets were able to push the pace fast and shot very well. Gabriel Richard did not shoot that well and they weren’t able to play the whole game.

Century Club Part 2/High Score of the Week Part 2

Detroit Country Day 100 Southfield Lathrup 87 (187 points) (December 3rd)

In the first game of the season, the Yellow Jackets were able to get into the Century Club. Southfield Lathrup played very well through three quarters, but the last seven minutes of the game saw DCD go on a 17-0 run and finish strong after SL had made it a 75-74 game. Austin Price scored 23 to lead his team. Edmond Sumner scored 21. Daine chipped in 10 and sophomore DeShaun Lewis scored 16. For Southfield Lathrup, Jonathan “Jon Jon” Williams lead all scorers with 36 points. Delano Roland scored 11.

Low Score of the Week

Central Lake 34 Ellsworth 21 (55 points) (December 4th)

Low score sometimes means no one reported on it.

Century Club Part 3

East Jackson 102 Manchester 61 (163 points) (December 13th)

East Jackson broke Manchester’s press defense, and came through in a big way. It helps a team do that when you have eight seniors playing. Six players scored in double digits. Leading the scoring was A.J. Iovannone with 19 points. Darianne Harrell scored 15, Aaron Griffiths scored 14, and Wyatte Matthews scored 13. For Manchester, the frantic pace they tried to play backfired. Jacob Korican scored 18 while Nick Cozart chipped in 10.
