MHSAA Boys' Basketball - February Fun!

Yet another week has gone as we move closer to the boys’ basketball tournament. I can use a bunch of clichés at this time talking about how important it is and how the intensity gets turned up. For the regular readers of my column, you know I frequently use those kinds of clichés. I’ll skip it this time though! And a-here-we-go!
High Score of the Week
Dearborn Advance Tech 97 Romulus Summit Academy 91 (2OT) (188 points)
Dennis Blanchard scored 20 points in the winning effort. His teammate Robert Jones scored 19. In the losing effort, Taylor Parsons scored 27.
Coach Cottrell’s BLOWOUT of the Week
Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian 80 Wolverine 25 (55 points)
It wasn’t pretty. No one wants to remember this one. Wolverine seems to have been run off the floor by a pretty good Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian squad.
Low Score of the Week
Salem 35 South Lyon 32 (67 points)
Although this may seem like a regular low scoring game, it was pretty important for everyone involved as well as Northville. Salem held a one game lead over Northville and South Lyon in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association Central Division standings with only one league game remaining. It was a defensive struggle but Salem came through with a victory. Joseph Remstad led all scorers with 10 points. Luke Short scored nine for South Lyon. Cameron Werner scored eight points in the losing effort.
Century Club
White Pigeon 100 Covert 59
Six players for the White Pigeon Chiefs scored in double digits. Tanner Nichols scored 22 points and tossed 13 assists. Teammate Matt Crowl scored 16 and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Ewen-Trout Creek 102 Wakefield-Marenisco 60
Gotta love high scoring games! It’s not easy to go over 100 points in 32 minutes!
Wyoming Godwin Heights 108 Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian 73
Five players scored in double digits in the win. They were led by Kevin Badger who scored 24 points and Quantrell Hastings who chipped in 23 points. Eric VanSwol led all scoring with 26 points in the losing effort.
