1. I am getting a lot of email from people asking why I only would accept Kelly. That is not the case at all. I think he is one of many good options, I just think that he would be my pick after the Mooch, Saban and Davis group. That said I will give you other options on Monday including one candidate that I really like a lot.
2. I am leaving for my fourth out of State trip since JLS got canned right after today’s Lions game (which I am covering) and look to have a great report for you on Monday about yet another great candidate who wants the job and is in the mix.
3. The more you people email and call I am even more convinced that this is the most important hire that MSU has conducted since Biggie Munn. Forget those people that will just bitch to bitch. The thing is that there are so many great Spartans that are just sick of the futility and are at the end of their rope. I certainly can feel it and let me tell you that you’re not alone.
4. With formal interviews beginning early next week MSU would like to have this done prior to Thanksgiving with the emphasis on sooner rather then later.
5. I had Keith Nichol the prized MSU QB recruit on the show right after JLS got canned and I can tell you that although he told us then that his commitment was solid, it is wavering now. Oklahoma and Bob Stoops are all over him and one OU source (who I have known for 15 years and trust) told me “if MSU screws the pooch on this pick he many be singing Boomer Sooner” that does not excite me. With that said we can’t hire a guy for Keith but we are losing recruits and whomever we get better be worth the wait.
6. Yesterday was the worst day in MSU football history. I wish the season was over and we could just move on. I certainly don’t blame any fans for not showing up but anyone inside MSU who doubts the Spartan Nation’s frustration and apathy need only to look at that. GET IT RIGHT!
