Lion’s schedule should yield 9 wins!

Â
Well here we go, that annual right of passage that I make each and every year predicting what the Lions will do. After hitting it right on the head for the 2005 season, I really was bad last year. “How bad Uncle Hondo?” I was let’s just say five games off and in the wrong way. Well this year I will rebound and either be right on, or hopefully off by not having enough wins.Â

September 9, 2007 @ OAKLAND 4:15

The Lions come in and really lay the wood to the hapless Raiders. For the first time in the Sarge era, they dominate a team start to finish 26-10 and start the season not only with a win but a road win. (1-0)

Â
September 16, 2007 VIKINGS 4:05

They don’t dominate like they did just a week before in Oakland but the Lions give Hanson the chance and he boots one threw for the Lions to start 2-0 and avenge the Vikings for last season. 17-14 (2-0)

Â
September 23, 2007 @ EAGLES 1:00

This one isn’t even close. The Lions are manhandled and blown out by a Philly team that sees their window of opportunity about to close and they never lay off the breaks. The Lions try but are not at elite level yet and it shows with this young team. 31-17 (2-1)

Â
September 30, 2007 BEARS 1:00

Sarge and Lovie are close friends and so is the score, but in the end Lovie’s Bears are just way to good. There defense even without Briggs shines and the Lions fall 24-20. (2-2)

Â
October 7, 2007 @WASHINGTON 1

The Lions rebound and head on the road to a tough environment but against not a very good team and take care of their business. T.J. Duckett goes crazy for three scores and in the end the Lions win their second game of the year on the road 30-20. (3-2)

October 14, 2007 BYE

Â
October 21, 2007 TAMPA BAY 1:00

Time for Sarge and Joe Barry to get some revenge on a team they won with, but kept them hostage from moving on for so long. The fading Bucs get punished by the resurgent Lions and Ernie Sims knocks out Jeff Garcia when he takes off and Ernie nearly breaks him in half. It is a big win for the Lions 20-10. (4-2)

Â
October 28, 2007 @ CHICAGO 1:00

The Lions come back to reality that the Bears are not the Bucs and get throttled by an undefeated Bears team that is on a roll. Unlike the past two seasons at Soldier Field, the Lions are competitive but it isn’t close. 23-16. (4-3)

Â
Â
November 4, 2007 BRONCOS 1:00

Dre’ Bly talks smack all week and the Lions shut his mouth. The offense he was so critical of before he left goes at him in typical Sarge fashion and Mike Furrey and Roy Williams have their best games as the Lions roll. 26-13 (5-3)

Â
November 11, 2007 @ ARIZONA 4:15

Heading out to the desert is fine with the Lions. They love the fact that finally they are getting some love and they continue that success out in Arizona. It is a battle and Leinart was able to keep the Cards in it, but at the end Jason Hanson comes through with yet another game winning kick as they win 17-16. (6-3)

Â
November 18, 2007 NEW YORK GIANTS 4:15

The Giants storm in to Ford Field and Eli Manning looks very impressive. He can’t get his sea legs however after Alex Lewis crushes him in the pocket and the Lions hold on to win in a thriller 24-23. (7-3)

Â
November 22, 2007 GREEN BAY PACKERS

The Lions welcome the ageless one to Ford Field (Favre) and the crowd can’t help but love him and their Lions that now stand at 7-3 and in second place in the NFC Norris. Favre looks good only when throwing to Greg Jennings and he is able to throw two touchdowns to him. In the end however, Kitna connects to Mike Furrey on the last drive of the game for the winning TD and the Lions win 17-13. (8-3)

Â
December 2, 2007 @ MINNESOTA 1:00

The Lions roll into Minneapolis on a tidal wave of emotion and quickly the tidal wave turns to a hurricane. They get thumped in the Dome 24-9. (8-4)

Â
December 9, 2007 DALLAS 1:00

The Cowboys come to town and Roy Williams has to rent an airplane to bring so many kinfolk to the game. The Lions however don’t disappoint the faithful after getting drilled against the Vikes the week before by winning on two circus like TD’s from Williams 20-16. (9-4)

Â
December 16, 2007 @ SAN DIEGO 4:15

Do you believe in miracles? Not this week. The Lions are on such an emotional high from the success thus far and they get run. Literally. LT runs from nearly 200 yards and the Lions learn that they are getting better but they have yet to arrive. 21-10. (9-5)

Â
December 23, 2007 CHIEFS 1:00

The Chiefs come to town and it clearly is a battle and the best game of the NFL’s weekend. With the Lions and Chiefs battling it out punch for punch, the Lions lose on a late interception for a TD by the Chiefs 20-13. (9-6)

Â
December 30, 2007 @ GREEN BAY PACKERS 1:00

In what could be Favre’s last game at the Frozen Tundra and both teams needing the win for the NFC wild card spot Favre’s magic proves way to strong. In the fourth quarter he throws three TD strikes to bring the Pack roaring back 21-14 and he gets his Packers back in the playoffs. The Lions end the season much improved and with hope now for even the bleakest fans. (9-7)

Â
This team will be much better. I just don’t think that this young they have what it takes to get to double digit wins and the playoffs. I hope I am wrong but I think the fan base will see a much better product, but not over the top yet. This will be a great step towards the playoffs and much loftier goals in 2008!
