Props to Mr. George Ketchman!

I was and have been critical of the play of Jeff Backus. He has in my opinion played less then stellar and if the Lions want to accomplish anything that has to get better.
Â
The Lions after the 05’ season slapped him with the franchise tag. The franchise tag insures that a player will receive a one-year deal that is based on the average of the top five salaries at his position in the league.
Â
I commented last week that Jeff was paid among the top three and his play was not reflective of it. To be frank, his play has been reflective of a bottom third player. Here at SpartanNation.com it is not about the story if the story is not 100% accurate. Mr. Ketchman pointed out that although we were correct to be critical we stated something that does not meet our criteria of 100% correct.
Â
When Jeff finally signed his long-term deal the franchise tag was lifted and his contract terms moved him to the middle and did not keep him in the top three. The information that I had about the 2006 salaries was reflective of Backus salary under the franchise tag and not what the final numbers were.
Â
It is with much appreciation to Mr. Ketchman that we fix this and to all of you that have made this site’s growth incredible. We have absolutely no problem admitting when one of you has great information as you frequently can read and see that we credit you when you have it.
Â
Thanks to Mr. Ketchman and all of you! Now go play like a top three Jeff! We have acquired the updated info and will get continuous updates as they change when it comes to salary in the NFL.
