Today is a sacred day for Americans. It is a day that honors the Heroes and Patriots that formed this nation. The seeds of the democracy they sowed have been watered and anointed by the blood of Patriots shed defending her and the tears of their families and a grateful nation.

Our nation was founded by rugged individualists. They were men of various backgrounds, socio economic backgrounds, some men of faith, some not. What they shared was a belief that living as subjects was not the way God intended life to be lived. They stood for something. They stood for freedom.

That is why they pledged their fortunes and their lives to see a new nation free from the oppression of Kings and aristocracy birthed for future generations. They were not perfect men, but they were inspired men.

Today this once seed of democracy has bloomed. America has problems, but in the midst of those problems she remains the greatest nation on earth. America is exceptional. America is still a shining city on a hill.

For all of her faults she stands as a beacon of hope for other people and nations around the world. We are NOT a government that has a country, we are a country that has a government. We not serfs, we are not subjects, we are citizens. We are free.

Today all of us as Spartan Nation declare our thanks to heroes past and present. Their families that have waited with fear and anxiety wondering if they would return, we salute you. To the children rose without mommies and daddies that made the ultimate sacrifice, or had to accommodate those that lost limbs, or had injuries not seen by the naked eye, thank you.

Each and every time America has faced a crisis or a dark time it is the American people that have rose up and defeated economic downturns, men with a vision of taking over the world and men with evil intentions. Make no mistake that evil men still do roam this earth, and they still hate America.

That is why each day should be the Fourth of July and each day we should declare not as a statement, but as a prayer, God Bless America.
