The Buckeyes saw Terrelle Pryor not get as hot as I thought he would until late in the season and failed to reach my predicted 12-0 record losing two games. That doesn’t change that they have a major advantage over every other team in the nation this season; they don’t have to improve at the most critical position of QB.

All Pryor has to do is perform at the level he did to end the season. Not needing him to get better is enormous. He simply has to maintain. I was eating dinner with Jim Tressel earlier this year when Pryor called him to talk about some tape he had just watched. Tressel beamed as he talked about his QBs commitment to watching film all off-season on his own.

Pryor will be the man many projected him to be. I expect him to play for the national title at the end of the year and to hoist the Heisman Trophy. The Buckeye program reloads every year and is the gold standard in college football.

Spartan fans need only look to Columbus and the way that Tressel built his program for hope. The Buckeyes’ season should be among the greats in Columbus history and whether or not Pryor is good enough to go pro should have a big influence on whether or not MSU wins a Big Ten title in 2011. If you are a Spartan you should be rooting for Pryor to have a monster year so he can leave early.

With the Spartans heading to Columbus next year with a talented and experienced team, the presence of a senior QB in Pryor could be a lot for the Spartans to overcome.
