The Los Angeles Lakers are odds on favorites to win the NBA championship, however that does not make them immune to struggling. The Lakers once again played mediocre for the week, and Shannon Brown was no exception. Brown played the poorest he has played all season. He shot a dismal 30 percent from the floor, and did not make a single 3-pointer. “Showtime’s” highest point production came in an 8 point outing against the Clippers. The Lakers improved their record to 32-13, and still lead the Pacific Division.

 

Jason Richardson somewhat struggled this week. While the Magic managed to win 3 games, Richardson only shot 37 percent from the floor. He was not effective at knocking down the 3-pointer either. Richardson’s highest point total for the week came in an 18 point outing against the Houston Rockets. The defensive woes also continue for the Orlando Magic. They allowed opposing teams to reach the 100 point threshold three times this week. The Magic also managed to lose a very important game against the Boston Celtics, which leaves many to question if they can ever beat the Celtics in a playoff series. The Magic are second place in the Southeast Division, and improved their record to 29-15.

 

Zach Randolph continued his excellent play, and his team continues to struggle. Randolph is the work horse for his team. He recorded a monstrous double-double against the Houston Rockets, when he scored 29 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. Randolph continues to lead his team, and is by far the most underrated power forward in the NBA. The Grizzlies are still two games below 500. They don’t seem to be improving. Their overall record is 21-23, but hope remains that they can still make a push for the post season.

 

Charlie Bell did not play this week. He hasn’t played in game since December 13th.

 

Morris Peterson did not play this week. He hasn’t played in a game since December 12th.

 

Drew Naymick and Idong Ibok continued their play in the developmental league. Ibok is averaging 1.4 ppg with the New Mexico Thunderbirds. Drew Naymick is averaging 5.7 ppg with Bakersfield Jam.
