Thank You Spartan Nation!

It is one thing to say, “Thank you.” It is also a much different experience to have a heart of Thanksgiving.

Â
There is an incredible group of people that God has put in my life that I truly feel a heart of Thanksgiving for.

Â
Of course the people that give of themselves here at Spartan Nation are among that group. Not one person makes any money from this site. In fact, this site comes with cost. That is not a complaint. The men and women and the boys and girls of the Spartan Nation are truly some extraordinary people.

Â
From the young man that emailed yesterday whose story I will tell on the news Friday evening, to the soldiers overseas in the war zone that emailed thanking me for the site, you are the ones that deserve the thanks. What greater people do all Americans have to thank than our men and women of the Armed Forces.

Â
To all of you, we say Thanks for serving our nation. Thanks to your family who today will gather and you won’t be there. Thanks for being willing to give up your life for me, my children and the right to have a site that gives opinions and commentary like this.

Â
SpartanNation.com has grown because of so many wonderful people that have passed on to others about the site. We have never once paid a dime for advertising. You people, by the thousands come and read, watch and even post your thoughts. This site’s success has nothing to do with me, it has everything to do with you.

Â
Today, some of us will work. Some will be away from family, but wherever you are; from a tank in Iraq, a fox hole in Afghanistan, the beach in San Diego, downtown Detroit for the parade or wherever your part of the world you reside, I say with a heart of Thanksgiving: THANK YOU!

Â
I wish you all the very best for your lives. This has been a great year and we look forward with a heart of Thanksgiving for what God has in store.

Â
Lastly, I leave you with this thought. My dear friend Chris lost his father last weekend. His dad who was an extraordinary man stopped around 3 A.M. to help a woman who was alone and change her tire. A truck never saw him and hit and killed him.

Â
Chris gave me a wonderful example of Thanksgiving when he told me yesterday, “I can’t cry today, maybe tomorrow or the next, but not today. He lived his life in such an incredible way that I can’t help but smile at how precious he was to me. I am so grateful and thankful to God for giving me that man for a Dad.”

Â
You know the affinity I share for my father. Everything in my life is directly attributed to that extraordinary man. My father is truly my hero. His brothers and father shaped him. If I am thankful for him, then I must have a heart of Thanksgiving for the men that molded him into the great man that he is.

Â
No matter how bad our circumstance, or situation, no matter how good or wonderful we have it, there are reasons for us to be thankful. One of the many reasons that Hondo S. Carpenter, Sr. has to be thankful for is all of you.

Â
You have touched and blessed my life.

Â

Thanks for the reading of the site, watching on TV or the videos, posting on the message board, and somehow sharing your life with mine. I know that you don’t always hear it and I know sometimes it is just words.

Â
I mean this with every ounce of me: Thanks Spartan Nation. I don’t know even 1% of you. I do know that I appreciate you. I do know that you allow me to live my dream and I have never, not once, taken you for granted.

Â
My prayer is that God blesses you, as you have me.
