With Week Seven completed, we are very near the end of the regular season. Only two games remain for some seniors. Hopefully they have made some friends and memories that will last a lifetime. There are only so many chances to go against these teams for players so they need to make the most of each and every opportunity they have. Now let's examine the results of last week's games of the week and hope they are Lovin' Every Minute Of It.

West Coast

East Grand Rapids 44 Lowell 40

The game didn’t start well for East Grand Rapids. They trailed 28-17 at the half and 40-24 when the fourth quarter started. Quarterback Ryan Elble found Nick Mulhall for his second touchdown of the game from 22 yards out only 30 seconds into the fourth. After another Lowell punt, the Pioneers marched down the field and David Drummond ran in a score from 32 yards out. Trent Voss intercepted a pass on the next series and returned it 35 yards. Elble again found Mulhall for a 17 yard go-ahead score. On the game, Elble completed 10 of his 15 passes for 92 yards and three touchdowns. Mulhall caught three of those passes for 99 yards and three touchdowns. Drummond ran 14 times for 98 yards and a score. On the Lowell side, Quarterback Gabe Dean completed seven of his 12 passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran 43 times for 247 yards and two scores. Matt Houston caught four footballs for 74 yards and a score. He also returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.

Mid Michigan

Mount Pleasant 28 Bay City Western 14

The Oilers of Mount Pleasant not only got their 21st straight victory in Saginaw Valley League play, they also moved closer to wining the conference title. Big plays marked this game and helped win it. After coming out of the locker room at halftime with a 13-7 lead, the Oilers picked up where they left off when Ryan Heeke recovered a fumble and ran 33 yards for a score. Alex Horton pushed the lead to 21 points on a 64 yard touchdown run. Bay City Western moved the ball into the red zone three times during the game but couldn’t come away with points. BCW quarterback Austin Pichiotino completed 12 of his 30 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown while also running 23 times for 112 and another score. Running back Josh Alba ran 20 times for 72 yards and caught a football for an eight yard gain. Receiver Chris Baba caught two passes for 16 yards and a score. Mount Pleasant quarterback Ryan Elliott completed only two of his 11 passes for 26 yards and a score. Running back Alex Horton rushed 19 times for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Dustin Lee caught that lone touchdown pass from Elliott on a 10 yard strike.

Detroit

Utica Eisenhower 10 Macomb Dakota 9

Sometimes, all it takes to win is a field goal. Kicker Daniel Gjocaj nailed a 41 yard field goal, the longest of his career, to give his team a 10-9 lead only one minute into the fourth quarter. It ended up being the winning points. Dakota had some problems fumbling the ball. What didn’t help is that Utica had a goal line stand, forced two fumbled, and blocked a field goal. Quarterback Joey Zerafa completed seven of his 10 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. The lone touchdown score went to Yosseff Bajaidar, who caught five passes for 65 yards. Half of those yards came on that 35 yard touchdown. Mike Connolly rushed five times for 27 yards. For Macomb Dakota, Mark Morris completed 21 of 26 passes for 177 yards. He also ran 19 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. Deandre Smith ran nine times for 68 yards. Dakota also scored on a safety.

Capital Area

East Lansing 16 St. Johns 10

When East Lansing got the ball with just over six minutes to play and 80 yards for the go-ahead touchdown, they showed what kind of grit they have. Ten plays later, Tyler Tucker tossed a three yard score to Eli Gruhn for his only catch of the day. Tucker had a nice game; he completed 13 of his 22 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Senior running back Spencer Treadwell toted the rock 23 times for 94 yards. Receiver Devlin Bell caught five passes for 106 yards after one of the top receivers in the Lansing area, Efe Scott-Emuakpor went out with a shoulder injury during the first half. For St. Johns, quarterback Bradley Cordes completed five of his 12 passes for 63 yards. Running back Andrew Mulliken ran 26 times for 81 yards and the Redwings only touchdown. The other score came from the foot of Taylor Ladisky on a 26 yard field goal that pushed St. Johns ahead 10-7.

North

Suttons Bay 40 Frankfort 0

Sorry, but I just can't find any news on this game. All I know is that Hondo picked this game as his "Lock of the Week." Unfortunately for the Great Hondini, he picked Frankfort.
