Wings Will Stop the Blackhawks and I Will Win a Bet with Koci!
Koci makes this the easiest thing ever to write.
Salute the Hawks for the season and the run that they have had. It was impressive and frankly I always root for an original six team when the Wings are done. MEMO To Koci: They aren’t done. Not even close.
The Wings have experience, but they aren’t long in the tooth and ready for the rocking chair and the old folks home. Where they are long in the tooth, they have a litany of young players that can step in and contribute significant minutes.
This team is on a mission. Kenny Holland has done a great job of accumulating talent that has had great success and is still hungry. Holland has gone after guys that are passionate about the game. Guys that would be playing in a rec league if they had retired and guys whom passion for hockey is an obsession.
This series will separate the Wings. They don’t need it to confirm themselves as the greatest team in pro sports today, but they will get it.
The Blackhawks will be formidable. They will be tough, but when the series is over the Detroit Red Wings will be heading to the Stanley Cup Finals and they Hawks can all come to Detroit to watch.
Koci is a dear friend. In truth is his more like a brother. That makes this bet very difficult for me. I will however take his pizza pie and his admittance of the greatness of the Wings to teach him a lesson. Koci is a super person who is just blinded by his loyalty to Chicago. So much so that he is probably leading the bring Blago back brigade. (If you knew Koci, you would understand how funny that statement really is.) He has an Uncle named Tom who is a huge sports fan and in the history of the world is one of the all time great guys. Koci, Uncle Tom deserves better than this. You are shaming him and he doesn’t deserve that.
THE BET
Here is what Koci and I have bet for this series.
1)If the Wings win, Koci will write an article for Spartan Nation declaring the Red Wings the greatest Pro Sports Team in history. Declaring a love for them that will last the rest of his life. He will also send me a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza.
2)If the Wings should slip up and the Hawks accidentally win, I will write an article declaring that Chicago is the real Hockeytown and that it is the best town for sports in the entire world. I will also provide my boy Koci and Amish made Michigan Cherry pie.
Let’s go Wings! By the way Koci, I like extra cheese. I am sorry Uncle Tom, I have to teach him this lesson, but we all love you!
