Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament: Championship Sunday live updates

The final day of the 2024 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament is already here, with the championship between fifth-seeded Wisconsin and second-seeded Illinois taking place Sunday at Target Center in Minneapolis. 

The Badgers are coming off a dramatic overtime victory over top-seeded Purdue on Saturday, while the Illini pulled away after a slow start against third-seeded Nebraska behind a 40-point performance from Terrence Shannon Jr. 

Sunday's championship is sure to provide no shortage of drama and excitement. You can watch the game on CBS or stream the game on Paramount Plus.

Game 15: No. 5 Wisconsin vs. No. 2 Illinois (live)

  • We're just about under way here at Target Center. Crowd is heavily Badgers fans. People may still be filing in, but it doesn't appear to be quite as big of a crowd as last week for the women's championship.
  • And we're off! 
  • AJ Storr with the first points of the day.
  • Quincy Guerrier's 3 gives the Illini a 10-6 advantage here early. First stoppage of play comes with 16:45 remaining in the first half. Guerrier and Coleman Hawkins have each hit a 3 for the Illini. Storr has four of the Badgers' six points.
  • This has the makings of a good one. Tied 16-16 with 11:26 left to play in the half. Storr is continuing his strong run at this tournament. Hit a 3 and made a tough layup. He has nine points now for the Badgers. Ty Rodgers leading the Illini with four points so far. 
  • It'll be Illini ball after a timeout, and we're still tied here at 22-22 with 7:44 left to play in the half. The Badgers are doing a nice job on Terrence Shannon Jr., denying him the ball for the most part. He has just five points on 1-for-3 shooting so far here today. Storr has 11 points for the Badgers. 
  • Storr just tried to go off the backboard to himself. Didn't work, but Carter Gilmore grabbed the offensive board, got the putback to fall and was fouled. He hit the free throw to put the Badgers up 25-23.
  • Badgers lead 33-31 with 4:00 to play in the half. Shannon will be shooting free throws with a chance to tie the game after the break. 
  • The Illini jump back ahead 41-40 with 21.6 seconds left to play in the half. Shannon coming alive now. He's up to 15 points. 
  • And that's a half! The Illini go into the break with the 41-40 edge. Shannon leading the way with 15 points, while Marcus Domask has nine. Storr has 16 points to lead the Badgers, while Gilmore has seven. 
  • And we're back for the second half! 
  • Chucky Hepburn with a jumper and was fouled. He'll shoot the free throw after the break. Badgers lead 55-49 after opening the half on a 15-8 start. There's 15:47 left to play in this one. 
  • Hepburn with another bucket and a foul. Hits the free throw to make it a 61-51 game with 14:38 remaining. Badgers getting some separation. 
  • The Illini are right back in this one. Hawkins with a transition dunk to make it a 64-63 game with 11:22 remaining in the contest. 
  • Domask's 3 gives the Illini a 70-65 lead with 9:17 remaining in this one. Illinois is in the midst of a 7-0 run while the Badgers haven't scored in the last 2 minutes, 5 seconds. Domask is up to 18 points, and Shannon has 21. Storr leads the Badgers with 18, while Hepburn is up to 16 points. 
  • Hepburn's jumper makes it a 72-70 game. Shannon drove and drew a foul on the other end and will be shooting free throws after the break. They'll be big ones with the Illini clinging to a two-point lead with 7:21 remaining. 
  • Shannon with a Dwanye Wade-esque lean in to draw a foul on Tyler Wahl. He'll shoot three free throws with the Illini up 74-72 with 6:28 remaining.
  • Storr makes a pair of free throws on a 1-and-1 to tie the game at 77-77. He's up to 22 points. 5:40 remaining. 
  • Dain Dainja's transition layup gives the Illini an 81-79 lead. They call a timeout. Dainja is having a nice game with nine points and six boards off the bench.
  • Huge 3 from Max Klesmit to make it an 82-81 game. 
  • Another huge 3 from Klesmit that ties the game at 85-85. Less than two minutes to play. 
  • And Shannon with the answer for the Illini! He drills a 3 that gives Illinois an 88-85 lead with 1:26 remaining in the game. After his 40-point performance yesterday, he's now up to 31 here in the championship game. 
  • Shannon with a steal and he's fouled in transition going up for a layup. He's shooting two with the Illini up 88-85. There's 1:02 remaining. 
  • Hepburn missed a shot and the Illini got the rebound and put the ball in the hands of Shannon. He's intentionally fouled. Makes 1 of 2 free throws. Illini lead 91-85 with 50.2 seconds remaining. Shannon has 34 points now.
  • Hepburn gets fouled and makes a pair of free throws. That makes it a 91-87 game with 41.8 to play. Hepburn is up to 20 points now. 
  • It looked like Domask was fouled going up for a layup. Play is under review. 
  • Domask is shooting free throws.
