Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament: Day 3 results

All of the action will be played at Target Center in Minneapolis.

We've reached the third day of the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament in Minneapolis, and Friday's quarterfinal games will be must see as the conference's best battle for a right to play on the weekend. 

We'll be providing key notes and stats as the games are happening, so follow along for the latest. All of the games, by the way, will be televised on Big Ten Network. 

Game 7 – No. 8 Maryland 82, No. 1 Ohio State 61

  • Ohio State up 17-12 after one quarter of play. Rebeka Mikulasikova leading the way for the Buckeyes with six points. 
  • Maryland opens the second quarter on a 14-2 run to take a 26-19 lead with 4:57 to play in the frame. Jakia Brown-Turner and Faith Masonius with eight points apiece for the Terrapins.
  • Dominant second quarter for Maryland. The Terrapins outscore the Buckeyes 26-13 in the frame to take a 38-30 halftime lead. Brown-Turner and Masonius with 10 points each. 
  • Maryland keeping its foot on the gas, outscoring Ohio State 27-22 in the third quarter to take a 65-54 lead into the fourth. Upset alert! 
  • Maryland finishes strong and pulls off the upset. Shyanne Sellers led the way for the Terrapins with 25 points. Brinae Alexander and Brown-Turner with 18 points apiece. Mikulasikova led the Buckeyes with 16 points. 

Game 8 – No. 5 Nebraska 73, No. 4 Michigan State 61

  • Spartans with a 22-21 edge after the first quarter of play. Jocelyn Tate leading the way so far with six points. Jaz Shelley has eight for Nebraska. 
  • Cornhuskers up 36-29 at the half. Alexis Markowski leading all scorers with 16 points. Shelley has eight and five assists. Tate and Julia Ayrault with eight apiece for the Spartans. 
  • The Cornhuskers had a monster third quarter, outscoring the Spartans 26-13. They lead 62-42 with one quarter left to play. 
  • That's a wrap. Ayrault with a game-high 25 points, but the Huskers take the victory. Nebraska with a big advantage on the glass, 44-30. Markowski led the Huskers with 22 points and three others finished in double figures. Nebraska is set for face Maryland in the semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Game 9 – No. 2 Iowa 95, No. 7 Penn State 62

  • Iowa with a dominant first quarter and is up 31-13. Sydney Affolter leading the way with eight points through the first 10 minutes. 
  • Slower quarter for the Hawkeyes, who just outscored the Nittany Lions 15-13 in the frame. But with the early lead that gives them a commanding 46-26 halftime advantage. Caitlin Clark and Affolter with 10 points apiece in the opening half. 
  • Iowa up 65-48 after three quarters. Clark and Affolter with 13 points apiece. Ashley Owusu leading the charge for the Nittany Lions with 16 points. Lelani Kapinus has 14 more for the Lions.
  • And that's a wrap. No surprise Iowa moves on to the next round. Clark nearly posts a triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, but she did shoot just 5 of 19 and had six turnovers. Affolter with a nice stat line of 18 points, nine boards and five assists. Kapinus and Owusu had 19 and 18 points, respectively, for the Nittany Lions but didn't get much help. Iowa will play Michigan in the semifinals.

Game 10 – No. 6 Michigan 69, No. 3 Indiana 56

  • Low-scoring first quarter, with Indiana up just 12-9. Former Gophers standout Sara Scalia has eight of those points for the Hoosiers, including a pair of 3-pointers. 
  • Indiana up 35-21 at the half. Scalia leading the way for the Hoosiers with 11 points. Laila Phelia has 10 for the Wolverines.
  • Michigan cuts into its deficit a bit in the third. Hoosiers are up 43-40 after three quarters of play. Scalia still at 11 points and leading the Hoosiers. Phelia up to 20 points after a 10-point third, helping her team get back in it. 
  • Michigan carries that momentum into the fourth, where the Wolverines dominate, outscoring the Hoosiers 29-13 in the frame. Phelia with 30 points for Michigan, posting back-to-back 10-point quarters. Lauren Hansen had 16 more for the Wolverines. Scalia led the Hoosiers with 14 points and Sydney Parrish had 13. The Wolverines will face the Hawkeyes in the semifinals.
