Mara Braun, Gophers crush Grambling State for seventh straight win

Minnesota had four players in double figures in a wire-to-wire victory.

Mara Braun scored 26 points and was one of four Gophers women’s basketball players in double figures in a 96-64 blowout of Gambling State Wednesday morning at Williams Arena.

Braun scored 17 of her game-high 26 points in the first half as Minnesota built a 15-point halftime lead en route to its seventh straight victory.

The Gophers (10-1) scored 28 points off 18 Grambling State turnovers.

Grace Grocholski added 12 points for Minnesota, Mallory Heyer had 10 points and nine rebounds and Maggie Czinano scored a season-high 10 in the blowout victory.

Douthsine Prien and Jordyn Carter paced Grambling State (4-5) with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Amaya Battle scored six points and recorded her second career 10-assist game. Niamya Holloway contributed nine points and seven boards.

Minnesota had 24 assists as a team, outrebounded Grambling State 45-27 and got 34 points off the bench.

The Gophers return to action on Dec. 21, when they face Lindenwood at 3 p.m. at The Barn.
