After 12-TD season, WR Jaylen Varner commits to Minnesota
Another hit for the Gophers in the transfer portal with Monday’s commitment from wide receiver Jaylen Warren.
The 6-foot-1 receiver played at Division II Emporia State in 2023 and lit up the MIAA with 90 catches for 1,008 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Warren is the third portal commit for Minnesota in less than 24 hours. On Sunday, former Penn State receiver Cristian Driver, the son of Green Bay Packers former star receiver Donald Driver, and former Oklahoma running back Marcus Major commitment to Minnesota.
Minnesota’s receiver room in 2024 also includes Daniel Jackson, who led the team this past season with 59 catches for 831 yards and eight touchdowns.
Jackson, Driver, Varner and others will be catching passes from quarterback Max Brosmer, who transferred to Minnesota after leading the FCS in passing yards in 2023 while starting for New Hampshire.
