Four Gophers football players enter the NCAA transfer portal

Following a few weeks of spring practices, at least four members of the Golden Gophers football have entered the transfer portal.
The four entering the portal that are known include defensive lineman Trey Bixby, offensive tackle De'Eric Mister, offensive tackle Cade McConnell and cornerback Tariq Watson.
Bixby, who starred at Eden Prairie High School and was a consensus four-star recruit in 2022, redshirted his freshman season at the U in 2023. Mister and McConnell didn't see any game action in their time with the Gophers while Watson played in all 13 games in 2023 and had 10 tackles as a redshirt freshman.
Bixby announced on Twitter that he's "Happy, healthy" and "in the best shape of my life just looking for my next home."

According to Gophers insider Tony Liebert, Minnesota was two scholarships over the limit before the portal window reopened so "a few departures were expected."
