Gophers offer Oklahoma prep quarterback Shaker Reisig
Minnesota's quarterback situation appears rock-solid for at least the next few years with New Hampshire transfer Max Brosmer locked in as the starter in 2024 and incoming freshman Drake Lindsey primed to earn the starting job in 2025 and beyond.
While there are no guarantees, it looks like a promising future as Brosmer led the FCS in passing yards (and was second with 29 touchdown passes) in 2023 and Lindsey was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Arkansas after leading his high school to a state championship.
That isn't going to stop the Gophers from recruiting more talent and competition, and they're doing just that with a recent offer to Oklahoma high school quarterback Shaker Reisig.
Reisig, a 6-foot-1 quarterback from Union High School in Tulsa, confirmed Monday that he's received a scholarship offer from the University of Minnesota.
The Class of 2025 quarterback played eight games as a junior this past fall and lit up opponents for 30 touchdown passes while connecting on 80% of his attempts. As a sophomore in 2022 he threw for more than 2,600 yards and 27 touchdowns. Add it up and he's fired 57 touchdown passes in 19 games as a varsity quarterback.
He transferred to Tulsa Union after leading Jenks High School, just a handful of miles away in suburban Tulsa, to a state championship as a freshman starter in 2021.
There will be significant competition on the recruiting circuit for Reisig. He's also received offers from Oklahoma State, Missouri, Utah, Illinois, Boston College and others.
