Gophers to start Cole Kramer for Quick Lane Bowl, P.J. Fleck says

The fifth-year QB has only attempted 14 passes in his college career.

Cole Kramer will get the start for the Gophers football team against Bowling Green in the Quick Lane Bowl on Dec. 26, coach P.J. Fleck told reporters on Thursday.

Kramer, a fifth-year quarterback with one year of eligibility remaining, hasn't seen much action in his college career but was expected to start the Gophers' bowl game once Athan Kaliakmanis announced his intention to transfer on Nov. 28.

Kramer has only attempted 14 passes in his career, completing eight of them for 103 yards and two touchdowns. He's also thrown two interceptions, one coming on his only attempted pass this season during a Sept. 16 game at North Carolina.

Max Shikenjanski, a walk-on true freshman from Stillwater, is the only other Gophers QB on the roster and will serve as the backup for the Quick Lane Bowl.

The Gophers have moved quickly to replace the outgoing Kaliakmanis, securing a commitment from FCS passing leader Max Brosmer this last week.
