Will it be Minnesota or Minnesota State advancing to the WCHA tournament semifinals?

The Mavericks, the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament, upset the No. 3 Gophers 5-4 in Game 1 of the best-of-three first round series on Friday before the Gophers stormed back to even the series with a 7-1 blowout win on Saturday.

Game 3 is Sunday at 3 p.m., with the winner advancing to the semifinals.

The other three first round series were sweeps, with No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Wisconsin and No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth all moving onto the next round.

If the Mavericks upset Minnesota Sunday they will face Ohio State in semifinals. If the Gophers win, Minnesota will advance to face Wisconsin in the semifinals while UMD would take on Ohio State.

The semifinals are one game, with the winners meeting in the WCHA championship game at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9.
