What’s better than one player of the month award? How about two?

On Tuesday, the Gophers women’s hockey team’s Abbey Murphy was named WCHA Forward of the Month and freshman forward Ava Lindsay was named WCHA Rookie of the Month.

It’s Murphy’s second straight Forward of the Month award and third for her career. She tallied 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists) during the month of December and eclipsed the 100-point mark for her career during that span.

It’s Lindsay’s first time receiving the Rookie of the Month nod. She had six points (3 goals, 3 assists) across the Gophers’ five games in December. She was the WCHA Rookie of the Week after recording back-to-back multipoint performances in wins over Bemidji State on Dec. 1-2.

The Gophers will return from nearly a monthlong layoff on Friday when they take on Connecticut at 6 p.m. at home at Ridder Arena.
