Dak Prescott: An Overall Look on the 2023 Season

A review of the former Mississippi State quarterback's overall performance with the Dallas Cowboys.

After one final game last week ending in a loss during the first round of the NFL Playoffs, Dallas Cowboys quarterback and former Mississippi Stats quarterback Dak Prescott covered a lot of ground the past season.

His accomplishments include 4,516 yards covered, 36 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The team as a whole finished the regular season 12-6.

In the matchups between the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, and New York Jets, Prescott completed over 70 percent of his passes. Against the Rams alone, Prescott threw for over 300 yards.

However, looking past his stats, Prescott also had a career high with his personal record.

In the Cowboys' final game of the season, Prescott threw for over 400 yards in the 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers over the weekend. Although Prescott was critical of his performance saying in the post conference interview “I sucked tonight,” his ownership of the performance displayed what it takes to be the leader of a team.

Although the wild-card loss put question on his return for next season, Prescott’s contract is currently extended until 2024 at $59.4 million against the salary cap.

it should be noted that Prescott finished the regular season with the second-highest EPA per dropback with an increase of 0.16 among qualified quarterbacks, Prescott also guided the Cowboys to the NFC East title.
