Former Iowa Guard Tony Perkins Commits to Missouri Basketball

The Indianapolis native announced his commitment to the Tigers on April 15.

Former Iowa Hawkeye guard Tony Perkins has announced his commitment to Missouri basketball, according to Joe Tipton. He chose the Tigers over Arkansas, Indiana, Oregon, Oklahoma and Ole Miss.

Perkins averaged 14 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists for the Hawkeyes last season. He also secured 1.6 steals per game. He shot 43.2% from the field, as well as 29.9% from the perimeter and 78.8% from the free throw line.

Perkins took a mystery visit to Columbia a couple of weeks ago, marking the first visit he took to new schools. He recently visited Eugene and the Oregon Ducks as well.

Perkins can play multiple positions. He played a little bit of point guard for the Hawkeyes, but most of his time came at the shooting guard position. He's a powerful 6-4, 205-pounds, aiding him defensively.

The guard joins former UT-Martin guard Jacob Crews as the second transfer of the class for the Tigers. According to On3, Perkins was the No. 49 player in this year's transfer portal class.

The commitment of Perkins may throw a wrench in the recruitment of Northern Kentucky guard Marques Warrick, who was on a visit last weekend. Warrick plays both point guard and shooting guard, similar to the newly committed Perkins.
