A win to open the 2024 campaign for Nebraska baseball.

NU topped Baylor 4-1 Friday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The game opened the season for both teams as well as the Shriners Children's College Showdown, which runs through the weekend.

Neither team could get on the board through the first five innings, but a Dylan Carey double in the sixth pushed Cayden Brumbaugh across. The Bears answered with a run in the bottom of the frame.

Carey added another RBI in the eighth inning before a Garrett Anglim home run and Brumbaugh RBI put the game out of reach in the ninth.

Tucker Timmerman notched the win, pitching 1.2 innings in relief. Timmerman gave up two hits while not allowing any runs. Casey Daiss earned the save with a scoreless ninth.

Brett Sears tossed 5.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits while striking out seven.

The Huskers continue their weekend against No. 21 Texas Tech on Saturday before closing on Sunday with Oklahoma.
