A less than ideal home opener for Nebraska baseball.

NU (7-4) got walloped 11-3 by South Alabama Friday. The Huskers are now 20-2 in home openers at Haymarket Park.

South Alabama jumped out early, scoring four runs in the first inning before adding two more in the third to make it a 6-0 game. Nebraska scratched a couple runs across in the bottom of the third but the Jaguars would score five more unanswered to run away with the contest.

Drew Christo took the loss, allowing seven earned runs over 4.1 innings. Nebraska used six pitchers over the nine innings.

A bright spot for the Big Red offense was Rhett Stokes. The junior infielder posted a 3-for-4 day at the plate, adding one run scored.

The series continues Saturday.
